Identification: Perennial; blooms May to June. Grows up to 1 1/2 ft tall. Leaves up to 4 inches long and 1 inch wide, clasp the stem and have heart shaped bases. Flowers small, have four petals and borne in flat-topped clusters.

Impacts: Whitetop is a common weed species on alkaline soils, but is not restricted to them. It forms dense patches that can completely dominate sites, resticting the growth of other species or degrading pastures. The species is not toxic to livestock but neither is it grazed. Less common than L. draba, thousands of acres can still be found in Oregon.

Biological Controls: No approved biological control agent is available.
